BE100 Give and retake the inside rein on a 20 meter circle
This movement tests the self carriage of the horse.
The aim is for the horses frame to remain unchanged and steady whilst you give and retake the inside rein.
To achieve this the canter needs to be active, balanced and in a good rhythm.
When you give the rein, extend your arm forward progressively (do not throw it, as in the first G&R in the video) ,keep your shoulders in position (engage your core), do not let your body follow your arm.
This will cause you to tip forward and your horse to invert and become unbalanced as demonstrated in the first part of the video.
The second G&R is balanced and in rhythm.
