BE90 - Changing the rein in trot across the diagonal HXF,MXK

This is demonstrated HXF and MXK. Prepare for the turn by waiting before you go into the corner, making sure you don’t shave the corner, ride into it giving plenty of room to be straight for your turn.

Preparation is key.

Use your inside leg and outside rein and turn your shoulders and head in the direction you wish to go. Remember to use your outside leg to stop them from leg yielding out through the corner.

If you do not do this you may lose the outside shoulder and line you want to ride.

Keep your rhythm across the diagonal, looking to where you are going.

If you are in rising trot make sure you change your diagonal before or at X.

This gives you plenty of time to prepare for your next turn.

This can be practiced at home on all diagonals and also in a field if you choose points to ride to.
