Suppleness and straightness - Trot poles in a straight line

First of all make sure your horse is warmed up on the flat.

This exercise helps to improve your horse’s rhythm, suppleness and balance.

It will also help them to engage their core therefore increasing their elevation.

When I do this exercise I use different distances between the poles to encourage the horse to think for themselves.

The shorter the distance the quicker they have to think and place their feet.

The longer the distance the more power they have to generate from their hind legs so enabling them to reach further.

This is good for horses with a short or choppy stride.

All pole work helps to strengthen the horse’s muscles

This should be used for all disciplines.
